OMISSIS
CONTEMPORARY PERFORMING ARTS FESTIVAL

project contact person: Samantha Punis
client: Mattatoioscenico
artistic, technical and organisational direction: Mattatoioscenico
communication and press office: AtemporaryStudio
period: 2008 — 2015

Invited to handle the external communication, press office and media relations of the 2008 edition of the Omissis Festival inaugurated with Ricci/Forte — an ensemble present on international stages such as the Venice Biennale — and the Macadamia Nut Brittle show dedicated to the literary universe of the American writer Dennis Cooper, AtemporaryStudio subsequently supported the Festival until 2015 with the aim of transferring the contents of avant-garde and experimental projects to a broader and more cross-cutting audience.

Disruptive, transgressive, and experimental.
This has been the hallmark of the programming (2005-2015) of Omissis, the Contemporary Performing Arts Festival organised by the Mattatoioscenico Cultural Association dedicated to 21st-century stage and performance arts forms and the promotion of contemporary languages: spectacle, dance, performance, music, design, visual arts and graphic design.
Conceived as a showcase for emerging talents and original projects, Omissis directly supported the production and dissemination of new artistic languages by promoting not only the performances of internationally recognised artists but also those of companies not yet included in the official circuits.
With the participation of performers from, among others, the United States, Slovenia, Switzerland, Finland, Austria, the Netherlands, Spain, Croatia, Israel, Poland and Italy, over the years Omissis has established a dense network of cultural and scientific exchange between different countries, transforming Gradisca d’Isonzo, a baroque town of Venetian origin in the province of Gorizia, into a centre of the international performing arts avant-garde, an incubator for exchange and experimentation.
Ricci/Forte, Suka Off, Mala Kline, Sineglossa, Gemma Williams, and Kiki Blood are some of the names that over the course of the various editions of the Festival have brought their very personal artistic versatility into theatres, galleries, and small hidden places, while also taking part in widespread performances on the city walls. Forcing research beyond research itself, experimentation beyond traditional gender distinctions.
